Choosing The Best Dishwasher Racks For Your Needs

One of the most important – no, vital – jobs in the catering industry is washing up glasses, plates, cups, cutlery, and do on, after they have been used. If you are a caterer, you no doubt are in the business because you love to cook and get pleasure from seeing your customers enjoying the food and drink that you provide.

However, after they have eaten, you have to deal with the dirty plates, glasses, and cutlery by putting them through the dishwasher. In order to handle everything as quickly and efficiently as possible, you need to put them into dishwasher racks so that they can be cleaned and stored away as soon as possible. There are a lot of dishwasher racks on the market, but how do you select the ones that provide the best performance, both for washing and for storage?

The problems with them are that some do not provide the best performance when cleaning, some don’t dry very well, which means that you may have to dry and polish glasses when they have come out of the dishwasher, or, worst case scenario, glasses and cups may come out of the dishwasher and still have lipstick stains on them.

The Austrian company, Fries, is probably the leading manufacturer of dishwasher racks and its’ products are designed to deal with every problem that washing dishes and glasses can produce.

Take a look at their Clixrack 500 glass rack as an example. This is the ideal solution for storing, washing, and transporting the most common sizes of glassware. These racks are the standard 50cm x 50cm size but are extendable vertically so that they can accommodate different sizes of glassware.

They are very easy to assemble yourself without the use of any tools and the clix extenders are available in different sizes and serve as a vertical link between the base rack and top frame. They are also lightweight, easy to carry, and have Efficient Wash Design (EWD) which means that your glasses will come out of the washer clean. There is even a tilt mechanism available so that you can dry the base of the glasses more quickly.

Consider Your Needs for Outdoor Catering Storage Boxes

When you are undertaking any sort of outdoor catering you need to consider your storage needs very carefully. You will need to transport quite a number of different items and you don’t want anything to get damaged. In particular, you need outdoor catering storage boxes that can hold glassware and crockery and the best way to transport these is in boxes that have inserts that will hold the items individually so that they don’t rattle around and knock against each other.

You can get outdoor catering storage boxes that have different depths since you may want to carry an assortment of different glasses. Obviously, if you are carrying champagne flutes you will need deeper boxes for these than you would for brandy glasses. Some suppliers will provide different sized insert to accommodate the different widths of your glasses, because a one-pint beer glass is a lot wider than a champagne flute. You could even be transporting the old type beer jug with a handle, and you won’t get very many of those to a box.

However, that doesn’t matter too much because a lot of outdoor catering storage boxes are easily stackable. That does matter, because if you are catering at an event and running a beer tent, there is only going to be so much room in the tent and you want the maximum amount of space for people and the minimum for storage. OK, you could argue that you can store empty boxes in your van, but then if you have surges of different people drinking different drinks at different times you don’t want to be running back and forth to the van for a variety of boxes.

Of course, depending on what you are doing at an outdoor event, you may also need to transport cups and saucers, coffee mugs, large plates, small plates, and more, and you can buy boxes that have different sized inserts that will exactly fit the type of items that you need to carry. Some of these outdoor storage boxes now come fitted with wheels which makes moving them around a lot easier.
