Folding Crates

Folding Crates are an easy way of making the most of your storage needs. You can use them to store crockery and glassware, either on your business premises or if you’re transporting items to a different venue. One reason why our folding crates are so useful is that not only are they ventilated, which avoids odours getting trapped, but also, they are of course, collapsible. This means that when you’re not using the crates, they can be stored to save you storage capacity and add to your transport space.

The crates are ergonomically designed, making it simpler for you to carry heavier goods with ease and confidence. Made from industrial-grade High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), our crates are made to take way more impact than the budget polypropylene boxes out there.

Dishwasher Cutlery Rack Or Dishwasher Cutlery Basket?

If you are considering buying a dishwasher cutlery rack for your catering establishment, there are a number of different choices. A dishwasher cutlery rack is also known as a dishwasher cutlery tray, but of course you can also get dishwasher cutlery baskets as well.

Whether you go for a dishwasher cutlery rack or a basket, the most important thing is how well the container permits the cutlery to be washed and dried. Some people consider that cutlery racks don’t allow for thorough cleaning and report that this is the case. However, how well the rack does or does not clean the utensils will depend on the design of it.

dishwasher cutlery rack

If you use a dishwasher cutlery basket the utensils should always be put into it pointing downwards. This is for reasons of safety as much as anything else because if they point upwards you can cut your hand if are careless when removing them after cleaning. It is also safer from a health point of view because you have germs and bacteria on your hands, so you want to minimise any contact with the part of the utensil which is going to come into contact with the food. It also means that you won’t get any smudges on the shiny knife blades.

Some Things To Consider When Thinking About Storage For Your Business

Keeping things tidy around your business is important: you need to be able to find things quickly when you need them, yet at the same time keep them out of the way when you don’t. One of the best ways of storing many items is to use storage containers, and preferably ones that can stack one on top of another so that they can save you a lot of floor space. Even better is to use nest stacking containers which have slightly angled sides so that when they are empty, they can sit one inside another: this saves as much as 75% of floor space. Nest stacking containers are also ideal if you have to carry out a lot of deliveries and collect the empty boxes later. You might have to deliver four van loads when they are full, but you can bring all the empty containers back on one van, saving a lot of time and fuel.

nest stacking containers

When considering purchasing nest stacking containers, there are some things that you need to think about before rushing out and buying them. It may seem obvious to say this, but you need to ensure that the containers that you buy are fit for purpose – not too big and not too small.

You also need to consider the requirements of whatever it is that you want to store. For instance, do you need a box with solid sides, or would one with ventilated sides be better? Does the item need to be kept out of sunlight which might discolour or otherwise damage it?

When buying nest stacking containers, you also need to know whether or not you need to be able to see what is inside. If you do, and the item doesn’t have to be kept out of sunlight or hidden for security purposes, you could buy containers that are made of clear plastic. Of course, another method for quick identification is to use boxes of different colours. Many products are manufactured in several colours, so you can easily identify what is in each of the boxes, simply by the colour of the box.

Some Of The Uses Of Stackable Plastic Boxes

Euro stackable plastic boxes are suitable for nearly all manufacturing and service industries. They are ideal for many food preparation and pharmaceutical products because they have smooth sides and are very easy indeed to clean. Since they are made of plastic, no microbes or bacteria can get into the surface. Non-food manufacturers will often use the larger stackable plastic boxes for products, while the smaller ones are used for small parts and fixings.

Service sector uses include outside catering, engineering service kits, police scene of crime use, hospital sterile services, food delivery to takeaways, greengrocery displays, and many more uses. Euro size containers are available with solid sides or ventilated sides, the ventilated ones often being chosen because it is easy to see what is inside each box. Furthermore, when used for food storage in refrigerators or freezers, they allow the cold air to distribute evenly throughout the container and the contents to chill down to the desired temperature faster.

The Fries Rack Glass Rack System

If you are looking for a bar glass rack there are many different choices, a lot of them contained within the Fries Rack System. Fries is an Austrian company that is a specialist in the manufacture of boxes and containers for the catering industry and has designed a wide range of different containers for various purposes, including storage, washing and drying, and transport.

One bar glass rack system that Fries has produced is the Clixrack 500 glass rack which is simple to put together without any tools, and furthermore, is adjustable. It is available with a range of extenders which simply clip into place and this means that you can easily extend the height of the racks to fit any sort of glass that you are using.

The bar glass rack by Fries has what they term Efficient Wash Design and is built so that the water can get to every glass in the rack and ensures that it is perfectly cleaned, including removal of lipstick. There is also the ability to tilt the glasses at an angle which means that they are easier to dry because the water does not collect in the base of the glass.

The glass rack is, as you might expect, stackable, and is also very lightweight which makes for easy carrying and handling. Because of the very open design it is a simple matter to see which glasses are in which racks, but Fries goes a stage further than that by providing the racks in a choice of seven different frame colours which makes it easy to see into which rack any particular type of glasses should be placed. You can also have colour coded clips in different colours that can be attached to the racks and offer an alternative method of identification.

Not only can you alter your glass racks for glasses of eleven different heights from 73mm to 260mm, but you can also alter them for width by using different compartments within each rack, allowing for anything from 16 glasses in one compartment up to as many as 44 glasses in the same area.

Fries Bar Glass Racks Have Many Benefits

In the catering industry there is a lot of glassware used – especially in pubs and bars, but also in restaurants, cafes, hotels, and any other venue that has a bar, such as a theatre, private men’s club, and so on. Unfortunately, one thing that all glassware has in common is that it is breakable – some more so than others. For instance, the traditional dimpled pint and half pint beer mugs are fairly solid, and can stand a bit of rough handling, but you won’t get away with that with a champagne flute.

Furthermore, in the outside catering industry all this glassware has to be transported from one venue to another and it has to arrive in one piece. This is why the Fries Rack System provides a bar glass rack that can be used for both washing and transporting glassware.

There Is No Point In Buying Cheap Storage Boxes

If you are looking for storage boxes for your business – and most businesses do – there is no point in buying cheap ones. They are not going to last. Storage boxes get thrown about, stored on top of one another, filled with all sorts of things such as motor parts which may be oily and greasy, and a whole lot more things can happen to them as well. The answer is that you should look for extra strong storage boxes.

You can buy extra strong storage boxes that are built to take punishment and still be useable years down the line. These boxes are made of a rigid plastic and many of them are available in Euro sizes. That means that they will be compatible with both standard sized Euro pallets and UK pallets which makes it a lot easier to move them about.

In the outside catering industry, storage boxes are constantly being transported to a venue, the contents taken out and used, then put back and taken back to the depot. In fact, they spend most of their lives being shunted about from one place to another. If you are moving a box full of cutlery it is going to be heavy, so it has to withstand the weight of a lot of cutlery and still keep smiling.

Dinner plates can be heavy as well, and of course they need to be protected from damage which is another reason for using extra strong storage boxes.

Then there is glassware. You need to be able to transport your glassware between venues secure in the knowledge that it won’t get damaged: you can’t repair broken glassware. Fortunately, you can get inserts for these strong storage boxes in a wide variety of designs and sizes so that whatever type of glasses you are transporting, each one will be safe in its’ own separate compartment.

For breakable items such as dinnerware and glassware it is best to use storage boxes with lids. This will keep everything safe and secure when you stack the boxes one on top of another.

Everything You Need To Know About Stackable Storage Containers

Storage and transport of items that you use regularly can save a considerable amount of storage space and transport space if they are kept in stackable storage containers. Many storage containers today are manufactured in Euro size which is 600mm x 400mm. These fit snugly on both Euro and UK pallets, as well as wheeled dollies, conveyors, and shelving.

The standard Euro size stackable storage containers fit in five columns on a UK pallet of 1200mm x 1000mm and in four columns on the Euro pallet which is 1200mm x 800mm. Many manufacturers also produce storage containers in a half Euro size of 400mm x 300mm, and it is even possible to get quarter size containers of 300mm x 200mm. In addition, some manufacturers also make containers in a size of 800mm x 600mm.

The Fries Conveyor Rack System

The Fries Rack System contains a large number of conveyor racks for glassware which come with a number of different choices. The Clixrack 500 glass rack is designed with a series of Clix extenders so that the user can extend the height of the rack to fit different glass heights without having to use different racks for them. This saves a lot of expense that would otherwise go on buying different size conveyor racks and of course it saves on storage space as well.

The Fries Clixracks can be adjusted to fit glasses from 73mm in height up to 260mm and no tools are needed to adjust them. The open rack design ensures that the water can easily reach all parts of the glasses and that they can dry fully as well. All of the glasses are completely protected within the rack and the racks can easily be stacked to save on transport and storage space. In addition, at the customer’s request, the racks can be fitted with tilting clips which allows the water to drain fully from the bottom of each glass.

The Fries conveyor racks are also available in seven different colours so that it is easy to place the right glasses in the right racks and also easy to identify which glasses are in each rack when needing to be selected from storage for use. Another method of identification is plastic coding clips in the same colours which can be clipped on to the racks. In addition, you can design and label the racks by hot foil embossing lettering or your company logo.

The design of the racks uses patented washing technology which ensures that the water is evenly targeted at the problem areas which are the rims of the glasses and those in the first and last rows. In addition, the Fries rack system can be fitted with different inserts to hold anywhere between 16 glasses and 44 glasses depending on the glass width.

The racks have a duplex bottom with the upper one holding the glasses, and the lower one ensuring there is no sagging and no damage to the glasses from transport hooks.

Attached Lid Containers Have A Number Of Benefits

When you are moving goods about, you need something in which to put them. If you are a manufacturer and make small products the size of, say, a bar of soap – or maybe they even ARE bars of soap – you can’t move them about one at a time. It would not be an efficient use of time.

Of course, some businesses use one-time containers such as cardboard boxes for their products, but these cannot be stacked very high because they will obviously collapse if too much weight is put on them. It rather depends on the contents as to how high you can stack them. Certainly, a lot of food items such as tinned foods are transported to supermarkets and convenience stores in cardboard which then goes to waste for recycling.

What Are Euro Containers?

Euro containers are manufactured to a standard Euro size of base of 600mm x 400mm which means that they stack in four columns on a Euro pallet of 1200mm x 800mm, and in five columns on a UK pallet of 1200mm x 1000mm. Some manufacturers of crates and boxes also make them in 400mm x 300mm and a smaller size of 300mm x 200mm and an extra large size of 800mm x 600mm.

You can use Euro containers of different base dimensions stacking on top of other containers. So for instance, you could stack 600mm x 400mm containers 2-up, side by side, on 800mm x 600mm containers, and you can stack 400mm x 300mm containers 2-up on top of 600mm x 400mm containers. Euro stacking containers also have straight sides, unlike nesting containers, so they can hold more product.

Because of the straight sides, these containers are ideally suited for carrying food products, such as wet fish from a fishing boat to the fishmongers or to a food processing unit. The solid base and sides will retain any fluids, and the containers are very easy to clean.

Euro containers are also suitable for most manufacturing and service industries. The larger containers are great for handling products, while the smaller sizes can be used to carry parts and small fixings. These containers are available with both solid and ventilated sides, and the ones that are ventilated are also suitable for certain food applications as they will chill faster when put into a fridge or freezer and reach the desired temperature more quickly. With the ventilated sides, users can easily spot whether the container has any contents or is empty. Since there is less material used in ventilated containers, they actually help to reduce the carbon footprint because vehicles transporting them will use less fuel.

Euro stacking containers are often used to transport high value items as they can be supplied with lids and with a variety of locking devices. They can also be moved about on wheeled dollies built to handle crates of the Euro size.

Volume Discount Storage Boxes: Time to Upgrade Your Glassware Storage and Transportation

The catering industry in the UK remains one of the most lucrative sectors of the economy. If you have a catering business, you need to adopt innovative strategies to stay ahead of the pack.  Using volume discount storage boxes gives your business an edge in this competitive industry.

Improving Efficiency and Productivity

The catering business is labour intensive, and your employees have a lot of work to do every day. Planning an event takes a lot of hands, equipment, and other resources. Some of these items you need include glassware, cups, crockery, and other items.

A Brief History Of Stackable Storage Containers

In the event and catering industry an awful lot of the equipment that is used is breakable. Some of it, such as glassware, is not just breakable, but fragile. There are plates, cups, saucers, cooking utensils, Pyrex dishes, and more, and all of these have to be stored, and when attending an outside event, transported. What’s more, there are an awful lot of them too.

A good few years ago, the only way you could store and transport all this equipment was in cardboard boxes – no doubt cadged from Safeway or Tesco who would have been only too happy to get rid of them. However, it meant that there were still a huge amount of breakages as the equipment was transported and the items inside the boxes moved around, despite being separated with newspaper, teacloths, or whatever.

Then it happened that someone had the idea of manufacturing boxes for the specific purpose of storing and carrying catering items, and better still started to manufacture inserts to go inside the boxes to keep individual items apart. That was a whole lot better and reduced the number of breakages, but the boxes were all different sizes to accommodate different sized items. That meant that they were difficult to store because they wouldn’t fit on top of one another, or if they did, they might be top-heavy.

Then came the solution: STACKABLE storage containers. Boxes and cartons the same size that would fit neatly on top of one another. Stackable storage containers really are the answer. Things have also got a lot better with the advent of boxes and crates in different heights but the same length and width, and with inserts that today come in a huge range of different formats. Now you can measure the width and height of your champagne glasses or whatever, and then you can buy stackable storage containers that have inserts supplied that exactly fit the items you need to store and transport.
Today, it is even better because we have containers in Euro sizes which were originally designed for the German auto industry but are now in daily use everywhere.

Things To Consider When Buying A Dishwasher For Your Business

When buying a new dishwasher for your business you have to remember it is not a cheap item and so you need to consider several aspects of what you do to ensure that you end up with the right model. Not all dishwashers are the same, by any means, so you need to take as much into account as you can before you start to look. When you find a model that seems to be right, it is also a good idea to go online and find some reviews.

Of course, one of the things that you need to take into account is the amount of space that you have available. You could find the best dishwasher in the world, but if it won’t fit behind your bar it is not going to be any use at all.

The History Of Cutlery Boxes

An individual who makes or sells cutlery is called a cutler, and this derives from the French word coutelier which comes from the Old French coutel which meant knife. Cutlery now covers knives, forks, and spoons, and the city of Sheffield has been famous for making cutlery for over 400 years. A train running from the city to London was named the Master Cutler. In the early 20th century, stainless steel was developed in Sheffield and brought affordable cutlery to the masses, as opposed to the solid silver of earlier years.

In the 18th century, knives, forks, and spoons were owned by the wealthy and needed cases in which to store and display them. The knife box became a symbol of importance in the dining room, since owning silver showed the owner was an individual of prestige. Knife boxes were fitted with elaborately carved interiors in order to hold the items separately, and the boxes were made of beautiful mahogany or walnut, polished and often with brass handles and brass locks in order to prevent the cutlery being stolen.

Developing knife boxes became an art as craftsmen began to turn what began life as a simple container into something of elegant beauty. Cabinet makers also made knife boxes of cheap pine or fir and then covered them with shagreen which was a leather made from untanned horsehide into which were pressed small seeds. This was then soaked and allowed to dry out and when the seeds were removed there remained an interesting textured pattern on the leather which was then usually dyed green, although sometimes red.

The fashion for knife boxes began to die out around 1820, and from that point a cutlery drawer was included in the sideboard.

Today, of course, we have cutlery boxes made of plastic which are usually stored in drawers in the kitchen, since the dining room, too, has gone out of fashion. Cutlery boxes today are merely items of convenience rather than something fashionable.

Commercial cutlery boxes are generally larger than the cutlery trays in the home, and are used to store and transport quantities of cutlery to wherever it is needed.

Choosing The Best Dishwasher Racks For Your Needs

One of the most important – no, vital – jobs in the catering industry is washing up glasses, plates, cups, cutlery, and do on, after they have been used. If you are a caterer, you no doubt are in the business because you love to cook and get pleasure from seeing your customers enjoying the food and drink that you provide.

However, after they have eaten, you have to deal with the dirty plates, glasses, and cutlery by putting them through the dishwasher. In order to handle everything as quickly and efficiently as possible, you need to put them into dishwasher racks so that they can be cleaned and stored away as soon as possible. There are a lot of dishwasher racks on the market, but how do you select the ones that provide the best performance, both for washing and for storage?

The problems with them are that some do not provide the best performance when cleaning, some don’t dry very well, which means that you may have to dry and polish glasses when they have come out of the dishwasher, or, worst case scenario, glasses and cups may come out of the dishwasher and still have lipstick stains on them.

The Austrian company, Fries, is probably the leading manufacturer of dishwasher racks and its’ products are designed to deal with every problem that washing dishes and glasses can produce.

Take a look at their Clixrack 500 glass rack as an example. This is the ideal solution for storing, washing, and transporting the most common sizes of glassware. These racks are the standard 50cm x 50cm size but are extendable vertically so that they can accommodate different sizes of glassware.

They are very easy to assemble yourself without the use of any tools and the clix extenders are available in different sizes and serve as a vertical link between the base rack and top frame. They are also lightweight, easy to carry, and have Efficient Wash Design (EWD) which means that your glasses will come out of the washer clean. There is even a tilt mechanism available so that you can dry the base of the glasses more quickly.

Consider Your Needs for Outdoor Catering Storage Boxes

When you are undertaking any sort of outdoor catering you need to consider your storage needs very carefully. You will need to transport quite a number of different items and you don’t want anything to get damaged. In particular, you need outdoor catering storage boxes that can hold glassware and crockery and the best way to transport these is in boxes that have inserts that will hold the items individually so that they don’t rattle around and knock against each other.

You can get outdoor catering storage boxes that have different depths since you may want to carry an assortment of different glasses. Obviously, if you are carrying champagne flutes you will need deeper boxes for these than you would for brandy glasses. Some suppliers will provide different sized insert to accommodate the different widths of your glasses, because a one-pint beer glass is a lot wider than a champagne flute. You could even be transporting the old type beer jug with a handle, and you won’t get very many of those to a box.

However, that doesn’t matter too much because a lot of outdoor catering storage boxes are easily stackable. That does matter, because if you are catering at an event and running a beer tent, there is only going to be so much room in the tent and you want the maximum amount of space for people and the minimum for storage. OK, you could argue that you can store empty boxes in your van, but then if you have surges of different people drinking different drinks at different times you don’t want to be running back and forth to the van for a variety of boxes.

Of course, depending on what you are doing at an outdoor event, you may also need to transport cups and saucers, coffee mugs, large plates, small plates, and more, and you can buy boxes that have different sized inserts that will exactly fit the type of items that you need to carry. Some of these outdoor storage boxes now come fitted with wheels which makes moving them around a lot easier.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Cutlery Boxes

Event, catering and catering equipment hire companies are constantly in the need of storing and transporting cutlery. After all, no event or occasion is complete without food and for that, one needs the right cutlery. But, keeping knives, spoons and other cutlery items organised is a huge challenge. You can check out cutlery storage boxes. A cutlery box can be an excellent solution when it comes to organising, storing and transporting cutlery. Keeping everything inside a box will even help maximise space. However, there are certain factors that you must consider before investing in storage boxes for your cutlery. Some of them are mentioned below.

The Size of the Box
Cutlery storage boxes are available in small, medium and large sizes. The capacity of the boxes can range from 100 pieces of cutlery to approximately 300 pieces. Your choice must depend on the amount of cutlery that you have.

Temporary or Permanent Lid
A cutlery box comes with two types of lids - permanent hinged lids and temporary place on lids. If you simply need the box to store your cutlery items, you can opt for a temporary lid. However, if you have to take the cutlery box to long distances for events or occasions, it is better that you get a permanent hinged lid so that the lid does not get misplaced by accident. Either way, a lid is a good option as you would not want the cutlery items to collect dust when you decide to use them.

Personalised or Non-personalised Storage Box
Are you an up-and-coming catering-related business? If so, it can be a great opportunity to promote your brand name by having your company logo personalised on the finishing of the cutlery box. There are storage box providers who allow for customisation. However, if you are an equipment hire company that gives out cutlery to other catering or event companies for hire, you may not need your brand name printed on the cutlery storage box.

A cutlery box is indispensable to catering equipment hire companies and catering services providers, especially the ones that come with handles, lids and dividers. You can store all of your cutlery items safely and easily transport the boxes to a location of your choice. So, determine how many boxes you need and its size before making an investment. Make sure that you only invest in quality products.

Benefits of Getting Champagne Glass Storage Boxes

Champagne or sparkling wine is a celebratory drink that tastes great and completes any special occasion or celebration. But, you cannot just pop open a bottle of bubbly and drink it straight out of the bottle. In order to enjoy champagne, one need to use champagne flutes and saucers. This is why almost all the event or catering companies in the UK are required to stock up on champagne glasses and also make sure that the glasses stay undamaged and in one piece. If you are in the food and hospitality industry and thinking of ways to wash, store and transport champagne glasses easily, a champagne glass storage box is the ideal solution. Below given are some of the benefits of these storage boxes.

Saves Storage Space
If you get glass hanging racks or cabinets for storing your champagne glasses, you will eventually run out of space. Also, hanging racks usually have a limit of 8 to 10 glasses. So, what do you do with the rest? The answer lies with a champagne glass storage box. This type of storage box can hold up to 40 glasses at once and you can simply keep them on the floor at a corner of your kitchen or warehouse. If you have more than 40 glasses and need more boxes, you can simply stack the boxes on top of each other to save space.

Allow Liquids to Easily Drain
Storage boxes for champagne glasses typically feature perforated crates offering ventilated bases. Since the crates are perforated, you can straight away store the glasses after washing. The residue liquid will drain away without causing any dampness. So, when you take out the glasses, they will be fresh and sparkling.

So, forget your old glass storage methods of wrapping them in bubble wraps or placing them in cardboard boxes after every event. Embrace the specialised champagne glass storage boxes.
